Melanotan II is a synthetic cyclic analogue of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH). It is studied in research models for its activity at the melanocortin receptors, with research interest in pigmentation pathways (melanogenesis) and related melanocortin signalling.
As a broad melanocortin agonist it is often referenced in the literature alongside receptor-selective compounds such as PT-141. Supplied as a lyophilised (freeze-dried) powder for reconstitution in the laboratory.
